Additional Classes & Meetings

The spring before your child enters 7th grade, you will be invited to the Spring Bar/Bat Mitzvah meeting at CSI. This meeting is for BOTH parents and the STUDENT.  It is scheduled on a week night at 7:30 PM;  we check all local school district calendars to avoid conflicts.   

At this meeting each family will get their copy of that year's Bar/Bat Mitzvah booklet and materials that are specific to that family's ceremony.  Included in this packet are the tentative dates and times of Group Bar/Bat Mitzvah Classes with Rabbi Kane. These 5 required sessions meet on Sunday mornings from 9 AM - 11 AM (before students go to their regularly scheduled Heh class).  In order to most effectively teach the material and meet the needs of the entire BM Class for that year, the Sunday classes are broken up into two Groups (Group A & Goup B), based on the date of their ceremony.   

In addition to these classes, parents from BOTH groups come to ONE Parents Only session that is scheduled to run from 11:15 AM - 12:15 PM, immediatley after one of the Group Classes. This means that some parents will stay on for the session and others will come only for that session on that day.  

Each family is schedule to meet with Rabbi Kane two weeks before their ceremony.   The tentative date and time will be INCLUDED in your Bar/Bat Mitzvah booklet.  Please put it on your family calendar! 

Things change:  Classes may shift due to weather concerns or an unforseen calendar demand and the Rabbi's schedule is completely dependent upon the needs of our members.
