Bar/Bat Mitzvah Aliyot Overview:

SINGLE BAR/BAT MITZVAH ALIYOT - HONORS:  YOU MAY HONOR 12 PEOPLE WITH THE ALIYOT LISTED BELOW (INCLUDING THE BAR/BAT MITZVAH).  THIS ALSO APPLIES FOR SIBLINGS WHO ARE SHARING A DATE.    

You have 6 non-speaking honors for 6 people.   3 when the Torah is taken out and 3 when it is returned. If needed, additional people may go up when the ark is opened with permission from the Rabbi.  

You have 6 speaking honors for 6 people, including the Bar/Bat Mitzvah, that consist of pronouncing the blessings over the Torah (Aliyot).  Please indicate both English and full Hebrew names (i.e. Sarah bat Moshe v’Esther) and if Cohen or Levi.   

DOUBLE BAR/BAT MITZVAH ALIYOT - HONORS: YOU MAY HONOR 8 PEOPLE WITH THE ALIYOT LISTED BELOW (INCLUDING THE BAR/BAT MITZVAH)  

If your child reads the first half of the haftarah, your non-speaking honors take place when the Torah is taken out (and during Hagbah/Lifting).  If your child reads the 2nd half of the haftarah, your non-speaking honors take place after the Torah reading, when the Torah is returned to the ark (and during G’lila/Dressing).  

You have 4 non-speaking honors for 4 people. 

You have 4 speaking honors for 4 people (including the Bar/Bat Mitzvah) that consist of pronouncing the blessings over the Torah (Aliyot).  Please indicate both English and full Hebrew names (i.e. Sarah bat Moshe v’Esther) and if Cohen or Levi.   

Please note:  Although it is not our custom at CSI to have more than one person come forward for a speaking Aliyah, exceptions will be made for parents, grandparents and other relatives at a double Bar/Bat Mitzvah. PLEASE SPEAK TO THE RABBI ABOUT THE PROPER WAY IN WHICH THIS IS CARRIED OUT.   

MINCHA/HAVDALAH  & ROSH CHODESH ALIYOT - HONORS:  YOU MAY HONOR 11 PEOPLE WITH THE ALIYOT LISTED BELOW (INCLUDING THE BAR/BAT MITZVAH)  

You have 8 non-speaking honors for 8 people.  If needed additional people may go up when the ark is opened with permission from the Rabbi.   

You have 3 speaking honors for 3 people (including the Bar/Bat Mitzvah) that consist of pronouncing the blessings over the Torah (Aliyot). Please indicate both English and full Hebrew names ( i.e. Sarah bat Moshe v’Esther) and if Cohen or Levi.   (NOTE:  There is on additional speaking Aliyah if it is Rosh Chodesh).
