Tutoring and Preparation for Bar/Bat MitzvahIt goes without saying but we'll say it anyway: Preparation for the Bar/Bat Mitzvah service only works if your child is consistent and focused. There may be other aspects of your simcha that are stress-inducing; being properly prepared for leading the service will not be one of them!
Our Religious School curriculum is designed to introduce prayers for Shabbat observance and holiday celebration and, once your child's date has been assigned, the materials specific to being ready to learn his/her Torah portion and Haftarah.
By gradually introducing materials and reinforcing the learning experience, our students are ready to learn the parts of their service they will be leading. It is for this reason that we strongly recommend that all students begin Religious School at CSI no later than third grade. Children who start earlier are that much more comfortable. If you have questions about curriculum, please contact Roni Shapiro at (914) 762 - 6396 or click here to e-mail her.
Cantor Shiovitz contacts each student about six months before their simcha to set up your weekly appointment. He provides both written and recorded materials (on CD) and breaks each total piece into small, easy to learn sections. If you need more lead time, please contact him by calling him at his private line (914) 923 - 0175 or click here to e-mail him.
