Take A Tour of CSI

Come on in!

Welcome to CSI, join me while I take you on a “virtual” tour of our beautiful building and grounds.

First, we’ll begin in our breathtaking sanctuary. You can see and feel the warmth of the “theatre-in-the-round” (more accurately, praying in the round!).

When you look up, you can see the unique cone shape constructed over the bimah with a Jewish star emblazoned on the top section.

And look at our exquisite “Ner Tamid”, eternal light. The centerpiece is constructed with quartz quarried in Jerusalem. It is adorned with a beautiful etching of the Hebrew quote “alatz libi b’ashem; ramah karni lashem” which translates to “My heart rejoices in G-d, my glow rises up to G-d.”.

Now we come to our ethereal “aron kodesh”, the ark where our Torahs are placed. When open, as you can see, you get a great view of the gorgeous needlepoint-themed mantles, designed by our member, artist Rhoda Psaty Holzer.

Also housed in our ark is

Our Yeminite Torah encased in Silver…

And, we are blessed to have our very own special Holocaust Torah which was rescued from the ashes of the Shoah. (not pictured)

The wings open at both ends for an airy, ethereal feeling. When we can, we open the doors and have our “Shabbat Without Walls”.

The main sanctuary houses siddurim, prayer books, that are transliterated for any individuals who are not totally comfortable reading Hebrew, as well as other editions of siddurim for worshippers to browse through, as well as several different texts of chumashim, Bibles, for perusal.

Services are held in the main sanctuary every Shabbat and Yom Tov, as well as on Family Night Friday evenings, and of course the High Holidays. For the latter, the sanctuary “expands” through both the Lower and Upper Social Hall areas to enable CSI to accommodate all of our members.

The Social Hall deserves a moment of its own. Here you will find our stunning handmade holiday tapestries.

And…when not in High Holiday mode, the Lower and Upper Social Halls are used for kiddushim, luncheons, meetings, school programs and assemblies. Our nursery school also uses this area for indoor recess in inclement weather.

The halls leading to the Nursery and Hebrew School classrooms are lined with artwork by students and teachers. It's always interesting stuff!

Down the hall are two of the school offices. Around the corner are additional classrooms and 2 more offices for the school.

A few short steps up and we are at the Cantor’s office, up a few more steps takes us to the “penthouse” classrooms”.

Back on the main level again, we emerge in the new wing which boasts an "age appropriate" bathroom specially equipped for our younger members.

And here are our computer classes!

On the final leg, we follow the corridor towards the West lobby.

On the way, we pass the Dairy Kitchen on the left and then the Meat Kitchen, lovingly endowed and equipped over the years, by the Sisterhood of CSI.

Further down the hall are all of the school offices

The CSI Memorial Garden, invites you to sit for a few moments in it’s beautiful and serene location between the school wing and our main entrance.

And we are very proud of our Playground, lovingly equipped by our Nursery School PTA.

Well, I hope you enjoyed the tour! We would love to have the opportunity to really “show you around”. If you have time, come and see for yourself what’s inside.
