Mentoring program
All of CSI's B'nai Mitzvah students are offered the opportunity to introduce their parasha from the bimah on the day of their simcha. Those who wish to speak are matched with vounteer mentors who will meet one-on-one with the student to prepare their speeches.
We ask that speeches be limited to 2-3 minutes and focus on introducing the Torah Portion. In the case of doubled dates, the first student to read that morning will introduce the Torah Portion, the second student to read will introduce the Haftarah.
When students and mentors have what they consider to be a final draft, that material is sent to Rabbi Kane for approval.
Our students speak about the theme of their portion, what it means to them, and perhaps how it affected their choice of a BM Project.
