Dear CSI Family,
With the New Year beginning, I want to wish you, your families, and our CSI community a year filled with health, happiness, and success.
CSI’s continued success, of course, depends on the required funds to provide for the outstanding programming, staff, and outreach that makes CSI a thriving synagogue. And, as I mentioned in my Kol Nidre address, more funds are needed to make the required building and security improvements for a safer CSI community.
A large part of our financial funds derive annually through our most important fund raiser, the Kol Nidre appeal. Our financial goal in this year’s Kol Nidre Appeal, as it was in previous years, is to raise $75,000, approximately 5% of our operating budget. Last year, with generous congregational support, we exceeded that goal, enabling the synagogue to meet its financial obligations
This fiscal year, in light of unexpected building and security expenses, the Board of Trustees, in adopting a budget, approved a slight increase in membership dues and school fees. This was the first time in a number of years an increase in dues occurred. This small increase, however, is insufficient to maintain our current programming, staff, building improvements, and security enhancements, and is certainly not enough to improve in all these areas if we are to continue to strive to remain a thriving synagogue. Thus, it is critically important that we achieve our Kol Nidre Appeal goal, and, hopefully, as we did last year, to surpass it. This past year members participated in great numbers. Many members helped for the first time and others increased their giving—some significantly. Thank you so much! If you can increase your contribution this year, it will be most welcome.
As I emphasized at Kol Nidre, I appreciate all of the volunteer work done by our members; it makes us thrive! And your financial contributions will allow us to continue to thrive. Again, my best wishes to you and your family for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
