Cinema Sabaya
2021. 91 m. Orit Fouks Rotem. Memento International. Belgium, Israel. Hebrew, Arabic with subtitles. Rated NR.
Best Israeli First Feature, Jerusalem Film Festival 2021. Orit Fouks Rotem’s groundbreaking debut has attracted much deserved critical acclaim and multiple awards. A group of Arab and Jewish women attend a workshop run by Rona, a young filmmaker from Tel Aviv, to learn to document their lives on video. As each woman shares her raw footage with the others, they are all forced to challenge their preconceived views and beliefs, coming together as mothers, wives, and women, and forming an empowering and lasting bond. Cinema Sabaya presents a deft and heartfelt portrait of art’s capacity to unite disparate communities.
Please join us on October 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM for brunch at CSI.
We will attend the 12:00 PM showing of Cinema Sabaya at the Jacob Burns Film Festival.
