B'nai Mitzvah
B'nai Mitzvah at CSI
At CSI, we believe that becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah is not a graduation or an ending—it is a profound beginning. This moment marks the start of a young person’s journey as a responsible and engaged member of the Jewish community.
A Personalized Experience
Every child is unique, and so is every Bar or Bat Mitzvah journey at CSI. We tailor the experience to meet the needs and strengths of each individual student. Through meaningful preparation and mentorship, our students grow not only in their skills but also in their Jewish identity.
Each child works closely with both our Rabbi and Cantor, building relationships that deepen their understanding and connection to Jewish life and tradition. Together, they will learn to:
- Chant from the Torah
- Lead key parts of the Shabbat service
- Deliver a D’var Torah—a personal teaching that demonstrates how the Torah speaks to their own life and values
Learning in Community
Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation happens side-by-side with attendance in our Religious School. The two paths complement each other: one offering broad-based Jewish learning, the other cultivating the specific skills and leadership needed to lead from the bimah.
A Joyous Commitment
“Bar/Bat Mitzvah” means “child of the commandments.” It is a moment of celebration—of stepping into new responsibilities with pride, joy, and community support. At CSI, we are honored to guide our students and their families through this meaningful milestone, ensuring they feel supported, encouraged, and deeply connected throughout the journey.
